About Nathalie

Nathalie Thengius is an artist from Sweden. She now lives in the southern part of Sweden, in Landskrona, but she originally comes from the Södertälje. Nathalie is an autodidact painter and makes a living of her art. Atmospheric lansdscape oil paintings with subtle surrealistic elements are her most significant motives. 

“I have a true passion for art history and traditional painting methods, and I always find myself trying to build a bridge between the traditional and the new, the historical and the futuristic. I often paint using the traditional method called sfumato, to build atmospheric landscapes with luminous lighting. I believe that these very old methods suit well for contemporary motives just as well as they did decades ago. 

My landscapes represent different states of the mind, not actual locations. These landscapes are interlinked with my reality, with my view of myself and others. I constantly seek ways to ground myself, and painting landscapes is my way of connecting to a fictional place, in where I truly can connect to a feeling.”

She has her art studio in Landskrona, in the local townhall, together with several other active artists, and regparticipates in art exhibitions and art events.
